Ryan Christensen was born and raised in Southern California. He holds a B.S. degree in environmental writing from the Environmental and Natural Resources Planning and Interpretation program at Humboldt State University. He is currently working towards his Master of Fine Arts in Film and Television Production at the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California.
He is a life-long backpacker with 4,000 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail under his feet. He has worked for the National Park Service since 1997 as an Interpretive and Wilderness Ranger at Yosemite, Death Valley, Sequoia-Kings Canyon, Mt. Rainier, and Mojave National Park units.
Ryan has been an avid photographer since childhood. Since 2007 he has created six films. His most recent, Living Death Valley, was co-created with Jonah Matthewson. Ryan co-founded Bristlecone Media as an organization dedicated to the efforts of wilderness conservation through cinematic, literary and graphic art.
Jonah Matthewson is a photographer, videographer and editor. Originally from the Eastern Sierra Nevada of California, Jonah has lived and worked throughout the North and Southwest. He is a licensed doctor of Oriental Medicine and an avid mountaineer.
